On a cold and muddy Saturday morning, local Chicago game studios Zynga, Iron Galaxy, Noisefloor, Netherrealm and Wargaming, took to the field for the 2014 Midwest Game Developers’ Kickball Tournament in Chicago’s Union Park.

The Kickball Tournament was organized by Wargaming’s Laura Crowley and Mike Krahulik of Chicagolootdrop.org to raise funds for The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital and Child’s Play, a worldwide organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games with a network of over 70 hospitals.

The ground was wet and thick with mud due to heavy rain the night before, but that didn’t stop anyone from giving it their all for charity! The Wargaming team featured fifteen employees from the Chicago office, with several other staff members on hand to cheer them on! Wargaming played games against Noisfloor and Iron Galaxy in the tournament but sadly, fell in both battles by only a few points. Netherrealm was the tournament winner, defeating Noisefloor for the championship.

On the Brightside, Wargaming Chicago won the Fundraising champions award, with over $1,800 raised for charity. The combined total of funds raised by all the studios was $3133.01! After a great day of kickball, all the studios met at a local bar for an awards presentation, raffle and to celebrate their epic wins, or hard fought losses. All in all, the tournament was a great success and the Wargaming team is already in talks on how they plan to go all the way next year!!
